Abstract
Kalamazoo, Michigan has a complex physical, geographical and political food landscape set in the context of a nationwide food system and a blossoming local food movement. This is a study of the food system as it is expressed in a low-income, multi-racial neighborhood within the city (the 49007 zip code), and the complex ecological factors that shape the food purchasing experiences of community members there.
