Abstract
This article from The Index discusses comments made by police and fire officials involved in the investigation of the September 1998 racist note and dorm fire at Kalamazoo College. Even though the case was closed without finding any suspects, officials made statements about why they were suspicious of the victim. The Assistant Dean of Students as well as a faculty member defended the victim against the suspicions of the investigative officials. The victim’s name is redacted in this article to protect his privacy.
