Abstract
According to Marsh's notebook #6, p. 35, the work was done February 8, 1939; state II on February 15. Marsh printed 17 impressions: Whatman white laid tone Anvil. These are located in the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, the New York Public Library, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Middendorf Gallery, Washington. Jones printed 7 impressions in 1956; the Whitney Museum 100 in 1969, in which the stamp of the Whitney appears in place of the artist's signature. Steel faced.
