Abstract
This is the basic problem: not why imported European cars are selling well in the United States, but why American automobiles are selling poorly 1n the Common Market. The intention 1s to clar1fy to what extent the present situation 1s due to direct trade barriers, and to what extent it 1s the natural outcome of deliberate corporate pricing policy. It 1s hoped that the following analysis will show how foreign trade in a sense distorts from the competitive situation the American automob1le producers face domestically.
