Abstract
When I set out to create this Senior Individualized Project, it was filled with aspirations and challenges. My plan was not only to present a work ofartistic merit, but also to present a work that was summative ofmy experiences at Kalamazoo College. The albums were meant to be focused in their own rights, but be interrelated through imagery and a general theme. The majority ofthe project rests on two albums, along with a third album ofadditional material. This paper represents the other portion ofthe project. Designed to detail the development ofthe individual ideas through to the final product, the paper is supplemental to the work itself. In particularizing the work, it is hoped that one can find insight into the process ofan artist writing a summative work ofartistic merit. Unfortunately one can rationalize and prove one's own work as artistic for an eternity, and this does not mean that the work is considered artistic by any means. Luckily, as the paper intends, one can explain the different stages to creating a work of music that is interrelated yet may seem distantly connected.
