Abstract

Many people have dreams, hopes and aspirations. Some may seem unattainable and others may be more easily achieved. When that dream is achieved people may feel a sense of accomplishment and/or it might seem very surreal. Surreal means strange, unreal, dreamlike and fantastic, which are all the things I felt when I went to Ecuador for study abroad. My study abroad experience is my inspiration and focal point for these images. It is true, although it may be cliché, that Ecuador was a dream come true for me. These images are a reflection of my experience abroad and so they are dreamlike and filled with nostalgia. Using collage techniques, I manipulated my images to make them more dreamlike, more surreal. Collage was also used to portray more experiences than a single image could. These images are meant to create a fantastical state that encourages investigation and curiosity.
