Abstract
Long-term diabetics have a higher degree of periodontal bone and tissue loss.
Diabetes causes a change in periodontal tissue by destruction of periodontal tissue fiber
arrangement and a more aggressive pattern of bone loss.
CALs- clinical attachment levels, measures the detachment of periodontal tissue loss.
Diabetics have higher CALs.
Impaired fasting glucose (IFG) levels result in hyperglycemia and are associated with decreased
attachment and increased pocket depth.
