Abstract

I spent the summer months of 2017 building an inward facing kiosk application for Avalara’s IT department in Seattle, WA. The purpose of the application was to create a user interface that would streamline the process for creating a ticket. To create this app, I had to learn a new language and IDE as well as how to build a user interface. I also had to learn how to create an application from the ground up. Some of this was learned through material online, the rest of the knowledge was acquired through many attempts of trial and error. This paper covers the processes that I went through over my eleven weeks at Avalara to reach the final product. It also has discussion on the materials that I used and why I chose to use them, and finishes up with final thoughts on the project.
