Abstract

An abundance of disparity exists among critics of Truman Capote's novel, Other Voices, Other Rooms; a review of their comments demonstrates that their differing emphases give very different meanings to the novel. Working with the existing criticism, with the observation that the novel is written from a homosexual point of view and must therefore be viewed in that context, and with several comments by Mr. Capote himself, this paper proposes the idea that the novel is at least partially a product of its then young author's psychosexual state of mind.
