Abstract
The newspaper articles were written while I was an intern reporter for the Holland Evening Sentinel during the fall of 1976. It was a worthwhile job not only because I learned journalistic writing skills but because I learned other marketable skills such as editing and proofreading. Most of the poems I have included were written during the past four months, but I have also included poems that were written during a period beginning in the spring of 1975 up through the summer of 1976. I have arranged the divisions in the order they were written and given them the name of the place I was living at the time I wrote them. Unlike my newspaper articles, my poems reveal my growth as a person. In my poems I am usually talking about how I have been shaped by the characteristics of the places I have lived and also how my imaginary world sustains and enlightens me.
