Abstract
The writing included here represents my attempt to tell the stories the way we remembered them as we looked at family photos. Sometimes our memories conflicted. Sometimes we forgot about a person or an event until someone else brought it up. Sometimes we were certain of exactly the way it had been- until the photo showed otherwise. And even then, we weren't always convinced that we had been in error. The poems are about me, about my family, about people I love intensely and people I never knew. They are about the stories that hold us together and the photographs that commemorate the important and the not-so-important events in our lives, from birthday parties to vacations to proms and weddings. The poems are not all flattering and they are not all true to the way it was. But they are all true to the way we remembered it.
