Abstract

This work seeks to highlight a specific aspect of Islamic life: Muslim relationships in the United States of America with regard to courting practices. Born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan, a community rich with Muslim tradition, I am extremely interested in delving further into a personally relevant social dynamic. I am also moved to erase stereotypes I may hold based upon erroneous or incorrect information. On a broader scale, understanding Muslim communities and the state of Islam is especially pertinent considering the recent events in the tumultuous and ever-changing world we live in.
