Abstract
On July 17, 1936 the Republic of Spaln erupted into a bitter civil war. The circumstances surrounding this conflict and the causes precipitating it have been the object of much study and very little agreement. Much of the "conclusive evidence" backing up one side of the other is based primarily on semi-factual and often propagandistic material. The major task of the study, therefore, is to weigh the material and attempt to "separate the fact from the fiction."
