The Determination of Metal-Organic Framework Stability in Ceramic Glazes
Francassi, Sydney K.
A study was done to find new coloring agents for ceramic glazes. The reason for this was to obtain new colors and overall appearances from these glazes. Metal oxides, metal chlorides, and metal-organic frameworks were used as the varying coloring agents in this research. The metal-organic frameworks were synthesized and dried in a series of overnight periods. Through observation, it was found that the metal chlorides and metal oxides don’t noticeably differ in color or fragility; metal-organic frameworks, on the other hand, were found to alter the color outcome in some glazes and alter the fragility in all of the glazes.
