Angiotensin II Stimulation of NADPH Oxidase Activity and Secretion of Cyclophilin-A in Adventitial Fibroblasts; Potential Role in the Paracrine Meditation of Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Hypertrophy
Iqbal, Tania R.
Hypertension, a condition that leads to many serious disease states such as stroke, hypertrophy, atherosclerosis, diabetes and retenosis. Increasing the activity of NADPH oxidase in adventitial fibroblasts with AngII causes the release of Cyclophilin-a and heat shock protein-90a that increases hypertrophy of the media by activating the ERK1/2 pathway. To better understand how the adventitia might affect medical hypertrophy, Iqbal (2005) studied fibroblasts, the major cell type in the adventitia.
