Abstract
The writing of American Beat Generation writers of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s such as Jack Kerouac were heavily influenced by the rhythms, character, and phrasings of bebop jazz of musicians such as Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. This SIP explores the deep connection between the emergence of Beat jazz-influenced writing, and the music itself.
