Abstract
The following paper is a discussion and evaluation of the family preservation movement in the child welfare field. It will detail the philosophy, perspectives, and program structure that embody family preservation initiatives across the county. In addition, the paper illustrates permanency planning through the state of Michigan's child welfare system. Implications for society and the population the child welfare system serves will also be explored.
