Neurotensin-1 receptor agonist PD149163 interacts with N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist MK-801 and the effects on working memory
A novel molecule, neurotensin-1 agonist PD149163 targets both the limbic system and dopaminergic areas to increase neurotensin levels, which may play a critical role in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia. A rat model testing working memory utilizing a Barnes maze found that PD149163, when interacting with MK-801, an NMDA receptor antagonist, did not improve induced memory deficits, yet increased induced velocity deficits.
