Abstract
Preventative medicine is an integral part of quality healthcare, and one way it can be supported is through federal funding. AllCare Health, a local branch of Medicaid located in Southern Oregon, has integrated a new program that seeks to reduce medical costs while improving preventative care practices. During a student internship at AllCare, I helped implement new coverage policies by organizing data for various episodes of care. Specifically, I compiled information on Type 2 Diabetics who qualified for a specific type of glucose monitor that had been shown to reduce emergency costs. This specific application of preventative care illustrates the importance of data organization in all aspects of healthcare.
