dc.description.abstractSince its simultaneous discovery in 1945 by Felix Bloch of Stanford and Edward Purcell of Harvard, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) has become a research technique of great importance, especially in the areas of investigating molecular bonding and structure. A need to accurately determine magnetic susceptibilities arose in the aforementioned fields and a technique was discovered for the determination of susceptibilities of liquid samples. It was the purpose of this project to modify this technique and to determine the procedure for measuring bulk magnetic susceptibilities of solids, by the use of NMR.en_US
