Abstract
I had two concrete goals when I started this project: 1) Devote as much time as possible to writing. Write every day for several hours. and 2) Experiment with form and perspective. While I was glad to have "found my voice," I worried that I was in a rut, and was hoping to break out. But on top of those goals, I had ulterior motives driving me into this project. I was frightened by the mystery of writing. If I didn't understand how this worked, how did I know I could ever write another poem? The answer was, I didn't. And I didn't like that answer. By writing with a more methodical approach, I secretly hoped to discover some sort of formula for writing poetry, a set of steps that would work every time.
