Abstract

America's cities have been deteriorating for the past 60 years. City planners, developers, companies and researchers have taken it upon themselves to breathe new life into the dying cities. The main purpose for urban revitalization is to bring people back to the cities to live, work and play. To achieve this goal, cities across America are undergoing changes in their infrastructure, laws and skylines. Detroit is a city currently going through some of these changes in order to save itself from decades of decay. Not all revitalization efforts are successful. The amount of success is determined by the willingness of residents, companies and local government to cooperate in developing a strategy to attack the problems of the city.
