Abstract
Extensive research has been done on the benefits of using xylitol as a sugar substitute. Unlike the other polyols, it has a few unique characteristics which make it not only good for you in terms of caloric content, but also in strengthening and protecting your teeth from harmful acids. Xylitol is not currently used in many products; however, based on its beneficial properties, it would be wise to start using it to produce more sugar free products.
