dc.description.abstractThis Senior Independent Project is a Physics Research Project carried out in the physics department at Wayne State University. This project is in the area of solid state physics, and deals. specifically with the behavior of cubic crystals of certain metals. The main purpose of the research was the determination of the elastic constants of the material of interest. Depending of the accuracy of the experiment, the experimental set-up may be used as an undergraduate teaching lab, and/or be used for further research, using the heavy metal glasses which I worked with during my career development quarter (Spring 1981).en_US
