dc.description.abstractSince its discovery in 1945 by two independent researchers, Felix Bloch of stanford and Edward M. Purcell of Harvard, nuclear magnetic resonance has been recognized to be an extremely useful tool in research. For their work, Bloch and Purcell shared the Nobe1 Prize in Physics in 1952. The existing applications are mainly in 1) spectroscopy, including isotope identification, solid state physics, and mo1ecular spectroscopy, 2) magnetic field measurement, and 3) pulsed radio-frequency techniques, or "spin echo" which offers important application in the field of memory devices. It was the purpose of this project to investigate the application to magnetic field measurement and to use it specifically in the measurement and plotting of fields and the gradients arising from these fields.en_US
