Abstract
This project has gone through many changes, some positive, some a little harder.
Originally in conjunction with my English minor, I had hoped to write a historical novel - something
around five hundred pages--maybe eventually publishing. After researching the
historical aspects for three months however, I realized this task to be much harder than
anticipated. My fiction at best sounded like a trashy romance novel, which is so typical of
the writing about this period. Diane Seuss-Brakeman then suggested I use poetry as the
vehicle for creative writing, rather than fiction. This proved much more effective, and
helped my understanding of the historical inconsistencies as well as, congruencies within
the period.
