Abstract
This study assumes that literature of a society will reflect in its content some of the major cultural trends of that society. The use of content analysis to determine if certain values of a culture are present in a form of literature has been shown to be a useful and fruitful method of acquiring such data. The purpose of this paper is to show, by means of content analysis, that certain cultural trends of American society are reflected in American science fiction.
