Abstract
An ideology is a set of beliefs or ideas that helps individuals interpret and evaluate their surroundings. This study looks at the ideologies of today's youth regarding politics, ยท religion, and society. Seventeen participants between the ages of 17 and 24 - also known as the Millennia! Generation - were interviewed between I and 3 hours. They described their political, religious, and social outlooks, and discussed their levels of interest and knowledge about current social and political issues. Participants were generally from Christi an or Catholic backgrounds though some no longer practice their religion, and a majority take moderate to liberal stances on the political spectrum. The most prevalent issues discussed by respondents were the environment, homosexual rights and marriage, and the abortion debate. It was generally found that Millennials still living at home tend to adopt similar religious and political ideologies as their parents and communities. Also, all political orientation movement and questioning within the sample tends to move from right to left. Though a majority of participants are experiencing this period of questioning regarding religious and political values, most of the movement and subsequent anxiety comes from those raised in highly religious and conservative families.
