Abstract
All of the different interfaces discussed in this paper present their own set of
advantages and disadvantages, whether for use in a classroom or research lab.
The three main projects are unified interfaces that make using complex robots
and many types of hardware much easier. They are great for researchers and
people who really want to get involved with robotics. Newcomers and students
want to find something that is easier to use so they can just experiment a little
bit with their new robots. This project was successful in providing those users
with a simple yet powerful interface for both research and learning. It does not
aim to replace the larger interfaces, but rather to provide a different solution
to those seeking an easy to use tool for controlling their Creates. It sacrificed
the generalizations. that Player and Pyro provide in order to address their main
drawbacks. Robotics is moving to these ail-in-one platforms, but there still is a
place for lightweight interfaces in the classroom and research lab.
