Abstract
This project examines the popularization of the organizational training process as a means to increasing labor productivity. Proper implementation of the training process or general training model requires the trainer( s) to complete the assessment phase, training phase, and evaluation phase in order ensure success. In addition to the three main areas of the general training model, the trainer( s) also has to consider many other factors including; adult learning patterns, training environment, and presentation media. Finally, it should be noted that every training situation is unique, thus requiring each program be designed specifically for that particular project based on the findings of the needs assessment analysis. To apply the general training model, Beach Paper Products Company is used as a case study to analyze the training process and show how it can be used in a practical situation. The application criteria of the training process produced several areas of concern at Beach. The process highlighted potential problems in the areas of supervision, operator training, and safety. Through step by step analysis of the Beach situation, it became apparent that several of these needs could be addressed and alleviated by organizational training. These areas will be the focus of second grant project at Beach Products in the fall of 1995.
