Foreign tourism in the United States is a relatively unexploited international trade item for the United States. Since the implementation of the National Tourism Policy, ten years ago, the United States has come a long way in the foreign tourism industry. The United States federal government established the United States Travel and Tourism Association (USTTA) to encourage foreign travel to the United States. The USTTA joins efforts by specific localities and tour operators to market the United States. Once tourists arrive in the United States the benefits are limitless. In recent years, tourists have had a positive effect on our balance of trade and have helped to reduce the national trade deficit. The economic impact of foreign tourism in the United states goes beyond the initial expenditures foreign tourists make. A united and effective marketing strategy of the United States is important because of the economic benefits foreign tourism can provide. At Funway Holidays Funjet marketing department, I experienced domestic marketing by a tour operator of both domestic and foreign destinations. I participated in a variety of activities such as creating the text and layout for hotel flyers to market feasibility studies. Although I was not exposed to any other departments at Funway Holidays Funjet, I feel the marketing department was the fastest paced. It was necessary for them to act proactively and reactively daily. Funway Holidays Funjet's travel packages are most important to the marketing department and second, is the competition's packages. My involvement in this department gave me an understanding of the magnitude of the marketing effort to encourage foreign travelers to visit the United States.en_US
