Abstract

From June 20, 1988 to August 31, 1988 I was able to enter Anritsu Corporation in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, on the premise of academic research for my Senior Individualized Project. This Senior Individualized Project (SIP) deals specifically with Anritsu Corporation's CAD (Computer Aided Design) Promotions Division. The objective of the research project was to develop a design rule check (DRC) for schematic circuit diagrams produced on an electric circuit design system. Initial work for the DRC was done on the VAX/VMS system in the C programming language. It was then transferred to the APOLLO DN3000 computer, and modified slightly to fit the architecture of APOLLO. Although a computer science SIP was my main purpose for being at Anritsu, I was also able to study the Japanese language and culture through close contact with fellow workers and many new friends.
