Abstract
The two "new math" texts which I am comparing in this paper are, The School Mathematics study Group (SMSG) high school geometry text, and the Ball State geometry text. I should qualify the use of "comparing", for I am concerned mainly with the foundations of the modern texts, their historical bases, and the order of presentation of materials. I do not intend, to make judgments on the more educational aspect of which text has better introductions, better summaries or review exercises. On the other hand, I have tried to examine quite thoroughly the postulational foundations of these two texts and their h1storical development.
