Abstract

This project was designed to explore the relationship between the causes and results of decreasing enforcement of competitive regulations. This paper will begin by introducing antitrust law and explain how it has evolved over time. Next it will look at how the way firms acquire and exercise power is different in the 21stcentury. Then Google in particular will be analyzed through an economic and legal framework. The differences between US and EU legal standards will be important to understand case outcomes. Looking at Google's antitrust cases will demonstrate the severity and impact of the recent changes in enforcement.
