Abstract

Summer 2006 marks the establishment of two small businesses; a coffee shop in Santa Barbara CA and a 12-bedroom beachside inn on the South Coast of Jamaica. Nestled within small communities which tourists frequently visit, industry is "show business". With a "cast" of owners, employees and other supportive roles, the standard script is practiced. Production entails a daily changing audience before which cast performers perform front stage and back stage roles. It is very necessary that every production meets high expectations because successful business is at stake. With the right tools and delivery of customer satisfaction, these two small businesses shape themselves for competition.
