Abstract
This paper evolved from my desire to learn more about
new reforms in secondary school mathematics. Through conversations
with Dr. Calloway, I decided that the twelfth grade
offered the greatest number of possibilities. With the traditional
high school curriculum being condensed, there is a necessity to fill one semester or the entire twelfth year with
a course or courses previously taught at the college level.
The first section of this paper is an examination of
a number of solutions suggested by national organizations and
commercial textbook authors. The second section is composed
of specific programs in operation at various schools in the
United States and a few foreign countries.
