Abstract

C.R. Pattison writes to the Executive Committee of the Michigan Baptist Convention through the Executive Committee of the Michigan Christian Herald detailing his proposal to purchase the Christian Herald. Pattison can pay $500 in one transaction or five annual payments with 10% interest on each year’s unpaid balance. Then Pattison offers the Convention two choices. The first would be that he would allow the Convention to appoint an editor “for a limited term of years” as long as the publication remains Baptist, in which case the paper would revert back to the Convention. The second would involve him acquiring the Herald’s publishing department instead, either for five years, ten years, or indefinitely, for the same price.
