Abstract
Beginning with the global view and Ford 2000, the following text provides further details of the company's structure, and more specific information about the mainframe environment of NACO. One of the primary effects of Ford 2000 is a massive restructuring of the company and its processes. Prior to these changes, the organization was arranged in the typical top-down arrangement of today's businesses. This arrangement utilizes a method where the departments report separately to their supervisors. To increase the amount of cooperation and teamwork between the departments, Ford 2000 includes a matrix-like structure to define the employee responsibilities to their managers and other departments. The matrix represents multiple accountabilities, as employees must be concerned with both the welfare of Ford, and of the customers using the data center. Thus, the matrix supports the company's desire to provide a high quality in customer service and to maintain some organization within Ford.
