Abstract

In an attempt to create high performance mating disruption, Trécé Co. developed a new Cidetrack dispenser for use in the disruption of codling moth, C. Pomonella, mating disruption. The dispensers were designed for codlemone, pear ester (ethyl (E,Z)-2,4-decadienoate) and a combination of these two. In 2005, Trécé Cidetrack dispensers loaded with codlemone (40%) and pear ester (60%) disrupted mating better than the industry standard, Isomate-C Plus dispensers. However, in 2006, Cidetrack dispensers loaded with 100% codlemone either outperformed the dispensers loaded with 60% codlemone and 40% pear ester, or there was no difference. The Cidetrack dispensing only codlemone did better than the industry standard Isomate-C Plus in the first generation, but failed to repeat these results in the second generation. However, no treatments reached a high performance mating disruption (98%). There was also no benefit seen in using a plant kairomone in addition to a codlemone.
