Synthesis and Characterization of Binuclear MnII2 and FeII2 Macrocyclic Complexes and a Binuclear MnII2 Complex of a Clathrochelating Ligand and Electrochemical Properties of a Binuclear MnII2 Complex of a Clathrochelating Ligand
O'Connell, Kathy L.
The purpose of this project involves the synthesis, structural characterization, and reactivity studies of binuclear transition metal complexes in macrocyclic and clathrochelate ligand environments. We are interested in these particular ligand environments because they provide coordination sites which facilitate metal-metal interactions. Electrochemistry was used to explore the electron transfer reactivity of some manganese complexes. By studying the reactivity, we were able to investigate the influence of the second metal ion on the first metal ion.
