Abstract
The author presents a collection of poems inspired by work on the family farm, including a sonnet crown: a sequence of fifteen sonnets where sonnets two through fourteen begin with the final line of the proceeding sonnet and the fifteenth is composed of the final lines of the first fourteen. The author discusses the writing process and the relationship of the poetry to his study of philosophy. The author writes “the sonnet crown finally came together, and for the work it had taken me and the culmination of all my learned skills in it, I decided to locate it at the end of The Property Line. It functions as a final note to my capstone, the harmony of form and content finally found, only through the determination and practice learned from my mentors, and a work ethic born from years working on the farm.”
