The author presents an overview of schizophrenia discussing the illness and various theories of its development, and then presents an experiment conducted under the direction of Dr. Richard Young at Indiana University involving 80 normal children from kindergarten to fourth grades and 9 schizophrenic patients, performing both relevant and irrelevant sorting tasks.
