A groundbreaking ceremony for the new men's dormitory, Hoben Hall, in the spring of 1936. Hoben Hall was built just next to the old Williams (or Upper) Hall that had been a campus mainstay since the 1850s. When Hoben was occupied in early 1937, Williams was immediately demolished. This photograph shows photographers at the left of the group, as well as members of the College band. The view is to the south. The photographer is unknown.
