Traditions of Certainty: The Orthodox Church as the Preserver of Truth
Abstract
Using the works of many authors far wiser than I, we will examine the role the Greek Orthodox Church plays in religion. We will form a preliminary ethic of the Greek Orthodox Church (hereon Orthodox, unless otherwise noted) by looking to its history. The Orthodox Church's present will be the subject of more extensive analysis helping to define further the Church's decision-making ethic. The things the Church is doing now will be most useful in helping us to understand whether the church is achieving its stated or understood goals. After analyzing what the church is doing and its efficacy, the other significant portion of this paper will be a suggested revision of the church's activities and policies. The Orthodox Church, like any other church, needs to examine itself to determine whether the service it is providing to its members is the best it can be.
