dc.description.abstractJohn Brademas is an American politician and educator. He earned his bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1949 and his doctorate from Oxford University in 1954. He served in the United States House of Representatives for 20 years and as Majority Whip for the Democratic Party from 1977 to 1981. He served as the president of New York University from 1981 to 1992 and is the former chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
