Abstract
My desire to be a secondary school teacher spurred my interest in learning about the Spanish educational system. I spent two weeks attending classes, conducting informal interviews, and observing activities at the Instituto San Isidro in Madrid. This is a very special year for San Isidro as the school is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Not only is it the oldest institute in Spain, but it is also one of the most reputable (according to its faculty and students). I enjoyed my time there and deeply appreciate all of the effort the faculty, staff, and students of San Isidro put into making my experience very beneficial. Most important to my study, however, was Maria Angeles Medina. She is an English teacher at the school and it was through her that 1 made all of my contacts.
