Inexplicable Deeds, Unforgivable Crimes (Méfaits Inexplicables, Crimes Impardonnables)

Abstract

English translation: This project is a history of war, but also a call to humanity. It is an attempt to make known the war with the young generations of today, which do not know it, and to try to render it comprehensible to them and to realize these atrocities of war. This is so that we do not reproduce any more. I decided to continue this project to educate my own generation on the effects and the consequences of war, which exist even today, fifty years later.

This project is composed of several parts; my first meeting with the history of Oradour on Glane, the inspiration of this project, and the undeniable stories of the survivors. It was important for me to include the various prospects in this project, because that makes it possible to present a history more credible than if it were only my history. I hope that by presenting the history of Oradour-on-Glane through people who survived the facts, also accompanied by the opinions of the historians, and also through my thoughts, that the reader can see all with dimensions possible and credible ones of these made, and to put an end to the capacity and the support of the revisionists.

I would like to initially thank Marcel Darthout and Robert Hébras for their generosity with their time. These men offer their time to speak to the young people in the Center regularly about memory about Oradour. These men devoted the majority of their life has this cause, and the memory of Oradour. I cannot imagine how much it is still difficult to tell the history of their life this day of June, 1944. And for this reason, I am eternally grateful. I also want to thank Kathy Smith and Dhera Strauss. These two women were essential for this SIP. Each one has contributed in her own way, and without them I do not believe for a second that this SIP would be on the same level. Lastly I want to take opportunity of vocalizing the goal of this project. My initial reaction in learning the history of Oradour was, "How could such a tragedy occur everywhere in Europe without anyone knowing?" Massacres comparable with that of Oradour occurred through all Europe during the war. We are always more aware of the great battles and the concentration camps, but unfortunately these atrocities occurred much more than that, and thousands of other people died because of these inhuman actions. I want to take this opportunity of make known these facts and to educate the greatest possible number of people. Because the more who know the truth, the more will be able to prevent war rather than repeat it. Original French: Ce projet est une histoire de guerre, mais aussi un appel à l’humanité. C’est une tentative de faire connaître la guerre aux jeunes générations d’aujourd’hui, qui ne la connaissent pas, et essayer les faire comprendre et de se rendre compte de ces atrocités de guerre. Cette tentation est au nom de l’effort pour que cela ne ce reproduisent plus. J’ai décide de poursuivre ce projet avec l’intention d’éduquer ma sur génération les effets et les conséquences de guerre, qui existent même aujourd’hui, cinquante ans plus tard. Ce projet est composé de plusieurs parties ; ma première rencontre avec l’histoire d’Oradour sur Glane, l’inspiration de ce projet, et les histoires indéniables des survivants. Il était important pour moi d’inclure les différentes perspectives dans ce projet, car cela permet de présenter une histoire plus crédible que si c’était seulement mon histoire. J’espère qu’en présentant l’histoire d’Oradour-sur-Glane à travers des gens qui ont survécu les faits, aussi accompagnée des opinions des historiens, et aussi à travers mes pensées, que le lecteur puisse voir tous les cotés possibles et crédibles de ces faites, et de mettre fin au pouvoir et le soutien des révisionnistes. Je voudrais remercier d’abord Marcel Darthout et Robert Hébras pour leur générosité avec leur temps, et d’avoir voulu faire un entretien sur une telle tragédie. Ces hommes offrent leur temps pour parler régulièrement aux jeunes au Centre de mémoire d’Oradour. Ces hommes ont consacré la plupart de leur vie a cette cause, et la mémoire d’Oradour. Je ne peux pas imaginer combien il est encore difficile de raconter l’histoire de leur vie ce jour de juin, 1944. Et pour cela, je serrai éternellement reconnaissante. Chacune d’entre-elles a contribue de sa façon, et sans elles je ne crois pas pour une seconde que ce SIP serait au même niveau. En dernier lieu je veux prendre l’opportunité de vocaliser le but de ce projet. Ma première réaction en vers l’histoire d’Oradour était « Comment est ce que une telle tragédie aurait pu se passer, partout en Europe, sans que personne ne sache ? » Des massacres comparables à celui d’Oradour se sont produit à travers toute l’Europe pendant la guerre. Pourtant, nous sommes toujours très éduqués à propos des grandes batailles, et les camps de concentrations, mais malheureusement il s’est passé beaucoup plus que cela, et des milliers d’autres gens sont morts à cause de ces actions inhumaines. Je veux prendre cette opportunité de faire connaître ces faits, pour éduquer le plus grand nombre de gens possible. Car, le plus nombreux ceux qui savent la vérité, plus nombreux seront-ils pour empêcher que cela se reproduise.
