Determination of Dimer Forming Conditions of sCD4-183 at Various Ionic Concentrations & Selective Reduction of the Two Disulfide Bonds Contained in this Protein

Dimer formation for the sCD4-183 molecule has been determined to be caused by ionic strength and pH level. The lower the salt concentration and the more neutral the pH of the solution is, the lower amount of dimers are going form. We have also discovered that dimer formation leads to increased accessibility to the disulfide bonds in the protein. When dimers form, one can add a disulfide reducer and cleave one of the two disulfide bonds in the molecule. Finally, we have proposed a possible mechanism on how and where the dimers form. We have also theorized which disulfide is being reduced in sCD4-183.
