Intercultural Research Project: Study of the Lives of Five Extremenan Women
Abstract
My project consisted of conducting interviews with local Spanish women. I selected five women to interview, and asked them questions about motherhood, marriage, education, and work, as well as a few general opinion questions. I began my project by preparing a brief get-to-know-you questionnaire and passing it out to the women I had selected. Once I had done that, I wrote up a draft of my interview questions in English, translated it to Spanish, and revised it with the help of my host-sister. I then set and confirmed the interview dates, and conducted the interviews. The interviews were recorded on tape as they were conducted; I later transcribed the recordings into written form and
translated them into English. Finally, I synthesized that information,
along with facts I collected from outside sources, into my final paper.
