    Abstract
My research project will revolve around the topic of women in Senegal. I have recently begun my internship with the United Nations Children's Fund and although it is not strictly focused on women, UNICEF does a lot of work for women in order reach the children. As mothers, women are extremely important in the role of health and development of children. I mn interested in the way that woman are portrayed in this society: what their role is, how it is perceived by the women themselves, and also by men. My homestay family experiences are continuing resources as for the most part, the woman's role is in the home. Whether it be a mother or a young girl working for a family, females are important in the work they do running the household and keeping the family together. In this experience and srudy, I hope to gain an understanding of the position of women in this country, separate from my position in my own country, but this will also better my understanding of how I am treated in Senegal and what exactly are the expectations of women here.
